Cleobury Court: rebuilding two bay windows in Grinshill stone
A new window opening and hand-carved string course and cills, completed March 2026

We are pleased to share one of our recent projects at Cleobury Court in Cleobury North, Shropshire. We were contracted to rebuild the lower sections of two bay windows on this fine stone house, and the work was completed in March 2026.
The work
- Rebuilding the lower sections of two bay windows, taking the stonework down and rebuilding it to match the rest of the house.
- Creating a new window opening where there was originally a door opening, so the bay reads as it should from the outside.
- Hand carving a new string course and window cills from Grinshill stone, worked in our workshop and fitted on site.
Why Grinshill stone?
Grinshill is a Shropshire sandstone that has been quarried for centuries and used on many of the county’s finest buildings. It carves beautifully, which makes it ideal for architectural details like string courses and cills, and it sits well alongside historic stonework.
Every piece was cut and carved by hand to match the profiles of the original details, so the new work blends in with the house.

Thank you to everyone involved at Cleobury Court. It was a fantastic project to be part of.
